Privacy Policy
Effective September 5, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how Bethesda Church("Bethesda," "we," "us," or "our") handles information when you visit this website, contact the church, use staff-only website tools, or follow links to services operated by other providers.
We do not sell personal information, and we do not use personal information for targeted advertising.
Information we collect
Information you choose to provide. The public website currently directs visitors to contact Bethesda by email or telephone rather than submitting a first-party web form. If you contact us, we may receive your name, contact information, the contents of your message, and any other information you choose to provide.
Technical and security information. Our hosting and infrastructure providers may process ordinary web request information such as IP address, browser or device type, requested pages, timestamps, and security or diagnostic data needed to deliver, protect, and maintain the site.
Staff access information. The staff-only administration area uses an essential session cookie to keep authorized staff signed in. Administrative content is managed through Sanity and related site infrastructure.
How we use information
We use information to respond to inquiries, provide church and ministry information, operate and secure the website, administer staff access, maintain site content, troubleshoot problems, prevent misuse, and comply with legal obligations.
We do not use information received through this website to build advertising profiles or sell lists of visitors, members, donors, volunteers, or supporters.
Cookies and similar technologies
Bethesda does not currently deploy first-party advertising or behavioral-tracking cookies on the public website. The protected staff area uses an essential authentication/session cookie.
Embedded or linked third-party services may use their own cookies or similar technologies subject to their own policies. Browser privacy controls may let you block or delete cookies, although doing so may affect some features.
Third-party services
The site may use or link to third-party services including Vercel for website hosting and delivery, Sanity for content management, EasyTithe for online giving, Google Maps for maps and directions, and YouTube for video and livestream content. Bethesda configures YouTube embeds to use YouTube's privacy-enhanced domain when possible.
When you load an embedded service or leave this site for a third-party service, that provider may receive technical information such as your IP address and browser details and will handle information under its own privacy terms. Online donations are processed by EasyTithe; this website does not directly collect or store your payment-card number.
Children's privacy
Bethesda serves families and publishes information about children's ministries, but the public website is not intended to collect personal information directly from children under 13. Children under 13 should not send personal information to the church through the website or email without a parent or legal guardian's involvement.
If you are a parent or guardian and believe a child under 13 provided personal information to us online, contact us and we will review the request and take appropriate action, including deletion when required.
Data sharing
We may disclose information to service providers that help us operate the website or church systems, when you direct us to do so, when needed to protect the safety or integrity of the site or others, or when required by law. We do not sell personal information for money or other valuable consideration.
Retention and security
We retain information only for as long as reasonably needed for the purpose for which it was received, ordinary church administration, security, recordkeeping, or legal requirements. Retention periods may differ by type of record and by the systems used to maintain it.
We use reasonable administrative and technical measures designed to protect information. No internet transmission or storage system can be guaranteed to be completely secure.
Your privacy choices and rights
Depending on where you live and the law that applies, you may have rights concerning personal information about you, such as requesting access, correction, deletion, or information about how it is used. You may contact Bethesda to make a privacy request. We may need to verify your identity before acting on certain requests.
Bethesda is a nonprofit religious organization and does not sell personal information. Some state comprehensive privacy statutes may exempt nonprofit organizations or may apply only when specified processing or volume thresholds are met. We will honor rights required by law and may voluntarily respond to other reasonable privacy requests.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy when our website, services, vendors, or legal obligations change. The effective date at the top of this page identifies the current version.
